30 Days: Final Week and Goals recap

I decided to wait until today to post the rest of my lists, instead of posting a week's worth on Wednesday and then the last two today.  I must admit, I'm glad it's done.  I enjoyed some of the topics, and those lists were quite fun to make.  However most of them, as I've mentioned, I found a bit thoughtless (not that they weren't well-thought out, but that they didn't provoke much thought from me) and dull.

With that said, here are my remaining nine lists:

Oh, remember Day 1?  'Goals for this month'  I honestly thought this list was going to be a washout, but I went back and looked at it today, and I didn't as bad as I thought at first.  Here we go:

1. Make lists!  *check* - made at least 30 of them, along with the other bajillions I made for other things.
2. Learn something about myself - um, not sure I completed this one.  I was hoping to learn something about myself through the lists, and I definitely didn't do that.
3. Not stress about my lists *check* - I used to have a tendency to be obsessive about certain things.  I would go crazy nuts with something for a while and then drop it altogether.  I certainly never would have finished 30 Days of Lists had I been that freakish person about it.  I'm glad I didn't.  Some days I didn't complete a list until the next day.  Not stressing is good.
4. Start our family conversion to healthy/fresh eating *um, half-check?* - I still need to finish reading the book I started about this (more on that later), but I've been extremely conscious about what we're eating lately, and I'm starting to make smarter choices.  Again, not wanting to go all gung-ho and then just drop it.  So we're headed in the right direction, just reeeeaaaally slowly.
5. Get a haircut.  Nope.  I had an appointment for Scooch and I, but had to cancel it due to Mr. R being out of town.  I never rescheduled.  And Scooch still has to walk with his head back so he can see out from under his fringe.  Poor boy.
6. Make pants for both boys.  Nope.  BUT, in my own defense, I did do a LOT of sewing this month.  And, my mom sent a boatload of clothes for both boys (thanks, Mom!!), so now I think Monkey is the only one who might need a pair or two.
7. Lose five pounds.  *check* (sort of, hrrmm...) - So, I weighed myself yesterday, and I had totally lost 5lb.  I checked in again this morning to make sure, since today is really the last day of the month, and I had gained a whole pound since yesterday.  Not quite sure how that happens (especially after two trips to the park and sweating in the sun at the park both times), but I think I'm marking this one completed, because the scale DID show that at one point in this month, I had indeed lost that blasted 5lb!
8. Sew something for me *check*  - See evidence here and here.

So four and a half out of eight.  That's better than my usual track record for goals. *grin*

Next Friday I'll have my regular Friday Moment post again, and hopefully a new selfie and some other good stuff.

Happy Weekending blogland!  Thanks for reading!

30 Days: week 3

In case you're just popping in for the first time (in which case, HI! and Thanks!), I've been doing 30 Days of Lists, and each Wednesday I'm posting my lists from the previous week.  I'm likely boring everyone to tears with these, but only one week left! *grin*

Here's this week's lists:

30 Days, week 2

I apologize for my absence this week.  I've been super motivated to get my Etsy shop up and running, so I've been busy busy busy with that these past few days.  I'm hoping to have it going within a month's time.

I'm also working on a selfie for this week too.  It'll be up by Saturday evening.

Oh!  And, I'm sooo excited about a week-long feature I have coming up next week.  It's Baby Week here on Scooch Monkey!  I made some baby gifts for my brother- and sister-in-law, and since they've received the package, I can now share it with all of you!!  So stay tuned next week as I'll be sharing all their goodies a little at a time.

Anyway, on to today's post.  I'm quickly losing steam with these lists, as you might be able to tell by the quality of my lists this week, but I'm hanging in there.  So, here is week 2 of my 30 Days of Lists:

And in case you missed it, here's week one.

30 Days, week 1

Here are my lists for days 2-7 of 30 Days of Lists.  You can find Day 1 here.  You can click on each image to enlarge it and read the list.  Welcome to my head.

I'm not enjoying this as much as I thought I would.  I guess I thought the list prompts would be different.  More meaningful.  More thought provoking that could lead to further writing.  The list of prompts for the whole month is available, but I haven't looked, wanting to be surprised each day, so maybe they'll get better.  I did have fun with the colors one, but still, no thought involved.

30 Days of Lists: Day 1

Welcome to my head.  I cannot be held responsible for any permanent damage you may suffer from your visit.  I hope you enjoy your stay.

After today, I'll be posting a week of lists at a time instead of trying to get a post in every day (especially since one of my goals for the month is to not stress about my lists!).  So look for a full week of lists next Thursday!

30 Days of Lists: my list book

Since 30 Days of Lists starts tomorrow, I had to get a journal/notebook/collection of papers to make my lists in.  Now, for anyone who knows me really well, you'll recognize right away how this book goes against everything that is ME.  I'm using a store-bought notebook.  Yup.  That's right.  I didn't even decorate it.  Yes, it will most likely hurt me physically to write in this book.

Here's the deal:  When we found out we were going to be moving to England for three years, I had to decide what things I could live without in order to cut down on the amount of stuff being shipped here.  Even though I used my papercraft supplies much more frequently than my knitting and sewing supplies, I knew it all couldn't come with me (after all, I do have too many hobbies).  Previously, just for papercraft, I had a desk, a rolling drawer system FULL of stuff, a huge wooden shelf system my dad made for my ink pads, five or six magazine files for card stock, and bins and bins of rubber stamps.  I wish I had a photo to show you the true magnitude of the amount of stuff I have.  So.  It had to go into storage.  I believe just the contents of everything filled 10+ banker boxes.  *wince*

Anyway, that was a lot of words just to say that I don't have the means to put together a little book for this 30 Days project, which, let's face it, is half the fun.  I know that a little hole punch and some binder rings certainly wouldn't break the bank, but I already have at least two hole punches, and binder rings in many sizes hidden in some boxes somewhere in upstate NY, so I couldn't really justify buying more.

So here it is.  I got it at Target while I still lived in the US.  It's recycled paper, and the pages are part banana leaves!  It was a set of three, and I'm already loving one of them full of lists at the moment, so I figured, why not carry it on?  The first one is lined with a title box at the top of each page.  I use it for everyday lists.  The one I'm using for 30 Days is blank pages.  I figure I can at least have some fun writing the lists since I didn't get to make a fancy book to write them in.  The third one is grid paper, which I might have to use for sewing notes.  Oh my, this is SUCH a long post just to show you this notebook.  *cheeky grin*

Let the list-making begin!!

30 Days of Lists starts in two

I originally talked about this in this post30 Days of Lists starts in two days!  I am a list fanatic so naturally this called to me.  I'm looking forward to a month-long challenge that isn't going to take up much of my time.  My pre-child self would have loved any month-long adventure that took up loads of time.  I'm compulsive like that.  I'll dive head first into something, and then fizzle out (or at least mellow out) in a month or two; so short-lived challenges are good for me.  But these days, as much as I still love a good challenge, I just don't have the time anymore. Jotting down a quick list each day, which is something I do regularly anyway, just fits ME right now.  Yes, I'm looking forward to this.  Who's with me??  There's still time to sign up, get on it! *grin*

30 days of lists

I'm addicted to lists.  Really.  I make lists of groceries, what needs to get done, long-term goals, things to make, even a list of pantry staples.  I read about this 30 Days of Lists thing on a blog that mentioned it just in passing in a comment.  The more I read, I realized it's exactly what I thought it was: 30 days of lists that are shared amongst the participants.  Each day we get a new prompt for our list.  If you don't like that one, come up with your own.  How could I resist?

So, all you list junkies, you've got two more days to pre-register for some cool stuff.  The list-making commences on 1 September.

Updated to add: I'll be sharing my lists here, and linking up to the 30 Days blog.  So come back and see what goes through this crazy head of mine.  *grimace*
